Most Popular Area Attractions

Berkeley Springs State Park

Berkeley Springs State Park features wonderful warm mineral springs, flowing at a rate of 2,000 gallons per minute. Berkeley Springs was first established as Bath, in 1776, and was regularly visited by George Washington.

Washington helped establish the springs as a health spa, when he and four other signers of the Constitution purchased land near the springs.

Today's visitors soak in the warm springs in the 750-gallon ceramic, walk-in, Roman Bath. The tub is perfect for lounging, floating and relaxing. The 150-gallon whirlpool Jacuzzi tub, saunas and Swedish-style massages are also very relaxing.

Cacapon Golf Course

Make your next travel plans for West Virginia, and head north into Berkeley Springs. Bring your golf clubs along for the ride and book a tee time for the Cacapon Golf Course.

Found within the Cacapon State Park Resort, this golf course is open to the public, 18 holes, and plays to a par of 72.

Opened in 1974, the Cacapon Golf Course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, and plays to a max length of 6,827 yards from the championship tees.

A premier golf destination in West Virginia, be sure to enjoy a fun and challenging day on the course – lush fairways, scattered bunkers, and taut greens make for an exceptional day on the links.

Capacon Resort State Park

Capacon Resort State Park is a beautiful park spanning more than 6,000 acres, near Berkeley Springs. The park is named after the adjacent Capacon Mountain, the highest point in north east West Virginia, at an elevation of 2,300 feet.

The Capacon River winds along the western edge of the mountain. Bring along your hiking shoes for trekking through the twenty miles of maintained trails or try your hand at trap shooting in the park's shooting range.

Spend the day at Capacon Lake in a row boat, paddle boat, at the swimming beach or fishing. Guided horseback rides are also available.

While in the area, be sure to visit Berkeley Springs State Park to soak in the warm mineral springs.

Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park

The canal passes through Maryland and D.C. – including a stop in Berkley Springs and other cities in northeast West Virginia.

Just east of Berkley Springs, the Great Falls Tavern Visitor Center in Potomac features a plethora a variety of museum displays and interactive exhibits.

Guests can explore the canal by hiking, biking, and walking one of the many trails weaving around Potomac River

Some sights along the way – apart from the great mountain scenery – include several National Historic Districts, mining relics, and plenty of former mining communities still brimming with culture. A visit to the “smokeless” coalfields is truly a visit back in time.
