The Capitol Complex in Charleston hosts West Virginia’s Vandalia Gathering on Memorial Day. The 2012 celebration of WV’s heritage and culture is May 25th through 27th. The Vandalia Gathering features traditional Appalachian music, complete with the sounds of fiddles, banjos, mandolins and guitars filling the Capitol grounds and West Virginia State Theater. Join in square dances and flatfooting on the Dance Stage or watch traditional dance troops in the State Capitol Great Hall. Browse the craft circle for Raku, pottery and folk toys. The Vandalia Gathering is all about West Virginia’s rich traditions and heritage.
Join West Virginia Power baseball fans for the 2012 home season opener April 12th. Home field for the Power is Appalachian Power Park in downtown Charleston, next to the Clay Center for Arts and Sciences at the corner of Morris Street and Lewis Street.
